Music Workshop

On October 23, 2017, There was a Music Workshop held at the Tarrant Church of God of Prophecy.  Anita Smalley, pastor's wife and Minister of Music from Fayette, Alabama was the instructor.  There were nine churches represented with 28 people receiving certificates.  It was a good day learning about music and worship.

Children Experiencing Worship by Kathy Creasy In June, I had an experience that filled me with joy and thanksgiving. I was serving as the evangelist at a summer camp in Tennessee. The first night of camp, I walked into the chapel where 109 eight-, nine- and ten-year-old kids were worshiping. They weren’t just singing songs and moving to the rhythm; they were worshiping with hands raised high and voices emphatically strong. And that was just the first night. Each night these campers worshiped vibrantly; they actively listened to God’s Word; they humbly received prayer ministry; and they passionately prayed for others. God honored their worship. The 2017 Annual Meeting of the Historical Society of Church of God Movements will convene on Thursday, May 25, 2017   at 9:30 a.m. at the Ministry Training Center of the Church of   God of Prophecy International Offices in Cleveland, Tennessee. For the first time ever, the meeting will also be offered via live simulcast, online. This year's meeting will feature three presentations on the topic of "A People of Prevailing Prayer." Dr. James Beaty will share the first presentation, "The History of Prayer in the Church of God," followed by Bishop Adrian L. Varlack, Sr. who will share "Praying Habits of A Pioneer." The final presentation will come from Bishop Brian T. Sutton on "Prevailing in Prayer Moving Forward." "In recent years I've been encouraged to see a resurgence in the attention many of our movements are giving to the ministry of prayer," said Shaun McKinley, acting president of the Society as well as Prayer Ministries Coordinator for the Church of God of Prophecy.   "It is my hope that this year's meeting will remind us of the passion,   commitment, and fervency in prayer that our forefathers and mothers understood was the foundation for their work and that this reminder will inspire us to recommit ourselves to lives of passionate,   prevailing prayer." The meeting is open to the public and admission is free. The meeting   is scheduled to conclude at 12:00 noon. The Ministry Training Center is located behind the Church of God of Prophecy International Offices and White Wing Bookstore at 3720 Keith Street NE in Cleveland. Those wishing to participate via the live simulcast should register in advance through the Church of God of Prophecy Prayer Ministries website at www.cogopprays.org. Let the Little Ones Come: Preschool Ministry Prior to the birth of each of our daughters, we purchased an elegant, lovely silver photo album to collect photos of the most cherished of memories as they grew. As soon as they were born, we inserted their photo into the front cover and wrote out the details of their birth—their name, birthdate, delivery time, and weight. Each photo album contained pages of empty pockets just waiting for photos to be inserted. Often times I would thumb through the empty pages imagining what events lie ahead for my daughters that would eventually be contained on each album’s page. In many ways, the children we serve are like those empty albums. Each child is a unique individual, made in God’s image, and from the moment of their birth we are given the opportunity to add to their “album” and help them form their picture of God, themselves, and their world. Gordon-Conwell Class

The above class came from several states including Alabama; (Delaware, Florida, North Carolina, Kansas, and Louisiana) to participate in the Alabama Gordon-Conwell Class which began March 16 and ended March 19.  We were honored to have our own Church of God of Prophecy Professor, Dr. Elias Rodriguez from Georgia.  Professor Rodriguez wasted no time in teaching the principles of "Introduction to Preaching".  I can say each one came away with a greater outlook on preparing sermons.
