Assembly Reservations Now Open Schedule of Events Released

Reservations for the 98th International Assembly, being held July 30-August 3, 2014, at the Rosen Shingle Creek, have officially opened. Those wanting to reserve rooms can click here to visit the Assembly website and go through the registration process. The entire hotel has been reserved for Assembly delegates and the Rosen company has also offered nearby hotels for any possible overflow. Those staying at a Rosen resort will have parking fees ($16 a day) included in their room rate. The theme for the Assembly is Breakthrough. The week's activities will include general sessions with worship teams and ministers, mission emphasis events, business meetings, special programs for youth and children, workshops and more. Prior to the official opening, the international presbytery of the Church of God of Prophecy will gather to meet, pray and select a leader to serve as the church's next General Overseer. 21 Days of Prayer

 For the past six years, the Church of God of Prophecy has begun each New Year with 21 days of seeking, a season of fasting and prayer. As we prepare our hearts for 2014 and another 21 days of seeking, the question asked by David when the army of Israel was being challenged by the Philistines and the giant Goliath in 1 Samuel 17:29, "Is there not a cause?" is appropriate now. When there are millions who do not know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior, not to mention areas of the world where the Gospel has never reached, I would say we have a cause. When there are Christians being prosecuted, persecuted, and executed for the Gospel, I say we have a cause. There is a cause to break out of our business as usual mode and allow the Holy Spirit to take charge of our actions, our plans, and our future.

 There is a cause to "sanctify a fast, and call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and call the inhabitants of the land into the house of the Lord, and cry unto the Lord." There is a cause to call the entire Church to a Season of Prayer and Fasting. I hear the cry from 2 Chronicles 7:14, "If my people which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways: Then will I hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

 Church, we need to hear a clear word from the Lord, not only for this summer's International Assembly and International Presbytery meeting, but also for our ministry that happens every day in every church around the world. And we pray for discernment to recognize the voice of the Lord. Pastors, this is a great time to organize your church into prayer groups and give specific prayer points.  If the events that have transpired around the world in the past year have not challenged your thinking and your actions, have hot stirred your emotions and caused you to seek a deeper experience with God, then perhaps you are asleep or in deep denial. Yes, there is a cause to pray. Everyone, young and old, is encouraged to join us, January 5-25, 2014, in these 21 days of praying, fasting, and seeking for the divine direction of the Holy Spirit as we move forward in areas we have never traveled before.

Philippines Typhoon Update

Two weeks ago, the Philippines were hit with the Super-Typhoon Yolanda, which killed at least 5,235 with an additional 1,613 still listed as missing, according to the last government count. More than a million homes were destroyed or damaged, including some of our churches. If you would like to make a donation to help, click here. As National Overseer of the Church of God of Prophecy, Philippines, in behalf of my family and our people, let me express my warmest gratitude and appreciation for all the help extended by the International Office, Harvest Partners, local churches in the US, local members, friends and everyone who helped our churches and brethren and the victims of Super Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda). During those trying days, your prayers, message of encouragement, concerns, love, personal notes and messages really meant so much to us. We appreciate very much those who dropped some words of encouragement. Your prayers, moral and financial support will not be forgotten. Justiniano A day after Super-Typhoon Yolanda (local name) land fell, the wide-spread devastation is just heartbreaking as news updates are beginning to come a midst power outages. The grim reality of the typhoon's strength is slowly unfolding as reports are coming in from the severely affected areas. The Philippine Red Cross estimated 1,200 casualties. Our church brethren from Panay, Romblon, and Mindoro are along the path of the typhoon. Please pray for our brethren and for the Filipino people who are affected with loss of lives, properties, agriculture and business.--Bishop Roger J It took us a while to receive a report from our district overseer from Panay to give us an idea about the extent of damages among our church family since the cell sites in the area are down. He has to drive several towns just to get a signal to send his messages to us. Most of our church people's houses were damaged. Our church in Bacong was totally destroyed; in San Antonio, we lost several of the roof tin sheets; in Culasi, we lost the extended parts of the church building; in Buenavista, the cottage that the Work Team used this year during the construction of the church was destroyed. Praise God that there was no loss of lives among our church family according to the district overseer. After several days of confusion and the seeming unpreparedness of the authorities to respond, the relief operations and help coming from different sectors and countries are beginning to pour in. Our fellowmen who were directly hit by the storm are receiving some relief goods, but other areas who were battered with same magnitude are also calling for help. This is part of the challenges the rescuers are facing since several islands of the archipelago were also badly hit. Presently, our church is focusing on helping our church family in Antique, Panay where 4 of our churches were damaged and houses of our members were lost or destroyed. According to our pastor in Bacong church, members are just meeting in a tent now after their church was totally destroyed. Our Women's Ministry Directress, Sister Salvie, and Sister Luz are now on the their way to bring some food and assess the damages and move to the next stage of our help--building and repairing church building and houses of our members. We want to help as many as we can do, but with the fund that we have, we need to focus in with the churches and members. Anyway, the authorities are now helping the people in general who are affected by the typhoon.

REVIVAL GATHERING:

This will be our last revival gathering of 2013. We have experienced the power and presence of God in each of these sessions. Fresh fire continues to fall as the hungry gather. There are still those who believe revival can become a lasting reality in our day. We cannot and will not let up. There is way too much at stake.
