Books for Haiti



As you know, the 2010

earthquake left Haiti devastated. The children's orphanage,

which is now called Ca-Ira Village, was destroyed and several children and staff persons died. The children's living quarters and school have since been rebuilt. The children are sleeping soundly in their dorm rooms and classes are back in session.

But there is a great need

that the children of your congregation can meet. In Haiti, where only 50% of the children attend school and the adult literacy rate is only 60%, books are scarce and reading is a luxury. What few books the children of Ca-Ira Village had were ruined in the earthquake. New books in the French language are needed!

Every $10 the children of your congregation donate will buy one book. If 100 children raised $10 each there would be 100 new books in the Ca-Ira Village library. I believe we can do even more. Let's work together to fill the Ca-Ira Village library with books. Let's provide books that our Haitian children can read, study, and enjoy!

A virtual book drive will provide our Haitian children with books to read, study, and enjoy.

Hydrate Ministries



DON’T GIVE UP! By Team Member: Vickie Peterson

Don’t Give Up is the message that I keep hearing over and over these past few weeks…to me personally and in sermons, devotionals, and scripture. Sometimes I look at the mountains that continue to rise before the youth of our nation and wonder, when will we see results. When will we see the fruit of our labor? The huge, gigantic mountain that looms before me and our youth consists of many factors. Some of the factors are broken homes, neglect, abuse, poverty, religion and drug use. These are just a few of the many situations that our youth are encountering every day and if the truth be known…sometimes my faith waivers a little because the mountain is so enormous and it seems to keep growing.

So I ask you…Who will lead them? Who will cover them in prayer? Who will fast for them? Who will love them like their own? Who will devote their lives for these children and abolish the mountains before them? These all seem like issues for the church…right? WRONG! If you are receiving and reading this newsletter then YOU are the answer to these questions. Why else would you have a connection with HYDRATE? It is because you have a true heart for the things of God and God’s heart beats for the youth of our world.

So this is for you today…Don’t Give Up! Don’t ever give up on your vision for our youth. No matter how alone you sometimes may feel in your quest. You are not alone. Don’t allow the thought of giving up to ever enter your mind just because you don’t see immediate results. Because seeing is not believing but BELIEVING IS SEEING. For example, can you believe that in this present day and in our state, the gospel is being preached in our high/middle schools through Hydrate Ministries! This is major fruit…major breakthrough! So today, I stand on this revelation that something is moving and something is changing in our world. I encourage you to stand on God’s Word that he is indeed faithful. He hears your prayers and will honor your requests. Don’t Give Up!

Pro-life advocates have warned that the justifications for abortion could lead to the sanctioning of murder for children and the elderly. Now it appears those concerns were well founded.

The London Telegraph recently reported findings published in a British medical journal advocated the killing of babies in instances where the newborns would create an "unbearable burden on the family or society as a whole."

The article, "After-birth abortion: Why should the baby live?," written by Alberto Giubilini and Francesca Minerva, Australian medical researchers, concluded that born babies have the same "moral status" as a fetus in that "both lack these properties that justify the attribution of a right to life as an individual."

The authors advocated that "after-birth abortions" should be "permissible in all the cases where abortion is, including cases where the newborn is not disabled."

The 'slippery slope' of ethical reasoning has raised concern among Christians and pro-life advocates.

"We continue to push reasoning further away from the moral absolute of valuing human life," said Kathryn Creasy, international director of Children's Ministries for the Church of God of Prophecy. "Killing fetuses isn't permissible morally so therefore killing infants isn't morally permissible either. At what age or moment in time will it be permissible to value and protect our children?"

The abortion industry currently claims the lives of 1.2 million babies annually in the United States. While that number has decreased from 1.9 million in 1990, pro-life advocates are determined to keep fighting until children, born and unborn, are valued and the abortion practice is outlawed.
